Any advise would be wellcome. For Augustine: These drives consume a >lot. The most annoying problem is that the drive insists on installing OVER FIVE HUNDRED MEGABYTES of junk in over a hundred folders and subfolders on the customer’s main hard drive (C:). The installation program asks only about installing the Muvee software, and then installs it anyway even if you tell it no.

Now I've used Seagate before, and generally speaking (as long as you don't drop it) they make pretty good external hard drives. But they dropped the ball with this one. Looking at the picture, you would think that all you needed as a little cord to plug the hard drive into your computer, and you're good to go. They have an adapter that connects the cord to the hard drive.

It is worth every penny you invested. I had to buy a computer as the hard drive failed in my old one (it was 8 years old & very slow) & I lost every thing not a good thing. I do not want that happening again so fitted this Seagate FreeAgent 500GB external drive to back up my files.

I was going to post a new thread to ask this question, but this seems like a pretty good place to try. I'm going to get a 500gb HDD (well, I'll end up with 2 or 3 or 4 500gb drives eventually, but one for now) to hold videos for streaming to an XBox360, a TiVo/network attached PC, maybe an AppleTV if I ever get one, (wouldn't it be cool of you could stream video to an iPod touch?) etc etc. Essentially, it'll be an iTunes library disk. I'm figuring a good USB drive would work fine (say a LaCie by Porsche) and save me like $50, which is an extra gig of RAM. Anyone have any thoughts?

It has a lot of featuresand ideal for every 3D enthusiasts, graphic artists, and designers. Highest rated photo editing software for mac.

This item appears to do what it's designed to, and if you're reading this you'll know what that is - it provides an onsite backup facility. (Which won't be much good if your house burns down) There isn't a full terabyte available. The disc comes with software aboard it rather than on an accompanying CD, and this occupies some space. I might offload this to a CD yet, but it's going to take me a very long time indeed to take enough pictures and obtain enough music files to fill up this great yawning chasm of storage space even so.
